Primary and Secondary Sportshall Athletics Finals

On Wednesday 1st December we held our Primary and Secondary Sportshall Athletics Finals at the Dolphin Centre. A really big Thank You has to go to Ben from Sportshall UK who came and ran the day for us.

On the Morning we had the Primary Finals with Abbey, Mowden, Firthmoor, St Teresa’s, Holy Family, Reid Street, St Augustine’s and St Mary’s all competing. These teams were the Winners of our cluster events and were now competing for Medals and the chance to represent Darlington at the Tees Valley Finals in January. There was a great atmosphere all morning, the children really enjoyed taking part in all Running, Throwing and Jumping events, there was lots of Self Belief on show. A really big well done to everyone for taking part, the winners were: Abbey in 1st Place, Reid Street in 2nd Place and St Teresa’s in 3rd Place… Abbey and Reid Street will represent Darlington at the Tees Valley Finals.

In the Afternoon we had the Secondary Finals with Wyvern Academy, Haughton Academy, Carmel College, Hummersknott and Polam Hall School all competing. We had the Year 7 Girls, the Year 7 Boys, the Year 8 Girls and the Year 8 Boys all competing for Medals and the chance to represent Darlington at the Tees Valley Finals. It was great to see the School games Values being demonstrated along with lots of competitiveness but all in great spirits. Well Done to all Teams who received Medals and to the Teams that qualified for the Tees Valley Finals.

It really was a great day had by all… Thank You to the Dolphin Centre for hosting us and also a really big thank you to the Young Leaders from Haughton Academy who supported at the event all day, they were brilliant.
